CAMBRIDGE, 31 July 2017 | Cambridge Medical Robotics (CMR), the British company developing the world’s smallest surgical robot, has hired its 100th employee - half a year ahead of schedule.
With a team of 100 highly-skilled engineers and designers at the company’s headquarters in Cambridge, CMR has more than doubled in size in the past ten months.
The company behind the Versius surgical robotic system aims to make minimal access surgery available to all those who need it by breaking down the barriers that exist within the surgical robot market.
Versius was inspired by the human arm, with its remarkable dexterity, flexibility and reach. Enabled by a unique robotic wrist, the CMR robot system combines the ability and dexterity of a surgeon with the benefits of robotics. CMR has filled more than 150 patents, a number which increases on a weekly basis.
In July 2016, the company announced the completion of its Series A financing, which raised more than $20m.
The company prides itself on its strong team-based culture. On announcing its 100th employee, CMR gave each employee a £100 John Lewis voucher as recognition of their hard work and dedication.
